Our mission is to make more people fall in love with heated blankets while reducing energy use.

Surprised by how ugly and unattractive traditional heated blankets looked, with fleecy materials and bad design, we decided to do something about it. In fact, we turned it around: the BOHEM is a heated blanket that’s luscious, beautiful, and designed to look as good as it feels.

No batteries, smaller footprint, no hassle

The entire surface of the BOHEM blanket warms you, unlike battery-powered blankets that only heat a small area. Batteries come with a large environmental footprint, from sourcing to disposal, while the BOHEM uses up to 40% less energy than battery-powered alternatives.

There’s also a practical reason to skip batteries: no hassle, no charging, no extra devices. Just plug the BOHEM into a wall socket. In fact, many people with battery-powered blankets end up using them plugged in anyway — so why waste a battery?

    We work with factories that follow responsible environmental practices and are ISO 14001 certified.

  • LOW IMPACT

    We plan to switch to low-impact dyes for our knitwear as soon as possible. We're still researching this.

  • GREEN LOGISTICS

    We ship overseas for long distances and work with sustainable logistics partners.

  • PACKAGING

    All our packaging and manuals are made from recycled cardboard. We use no plastic in our packaging.

How it began

Aam and Stefan work from a beautiful studio in a former 19th-century hospital in Amsterdam. The space has soaring ceilings and old radiators — charming, but far from efficient. Heating the entire studio takes forever, sometimes feels impossible, and energy costs are sky-high.

In the middle of a cold winter, they realized that the most sustainable way to stay warm wasn’t to heat the whole space, but to warm the person, not the room. That’s when the idea for their heated blanket was born.

Using less energy than any other heating device — the BOHEM blanket wraps you in warmth and comfort. Head-to-toe-happiness!

BOHEM: The development

  • Research

    We researched and tested everything — from heating technologies, controllers, and safety standards to manufacturers and certifications.

    We searched for the softest, friendliest materials and beautiful styles to replace the often clunky, unattractive designs of traditional heated blankets. We also carefully explored production methods and sustainable packaging, ensuring every detail is simple, functional, and beautiful.

  • Testing

    We visited manufacturers, tested countless prototypes, and worked closely together on logistics and commercial planning.

    As we refined our designs, more and more people around us became excited about the blankets. Our very first prototype has been in use for over two years — and it’s still going strong.

  • Result

    We discovered that quite a few people already use heated blankets — but they often hide them away when guests come over because of how they look.
